HENRY ART GALLERY

There's a haphazard of nobody-home photography--interiors and landscapes emptied of the folk who inhabit them--around of late. What elevates Uta Barth above the places-without-people multitude is not only her lengthy engagement with the subject if it be not that the work's strong subjectivity. granting the LA-based artist's out-of-focus, off-center bullets address formal issues such as "Field" and "Ground" (titles of sum of two units series), they also indicate a surpassingly human eye, capturing the various forms of attention we bring to bear onward the world. Curator Sheryl Conkelton has chooseed fifty works for this midcareer retrospective. Nov. 9 2000-Jan. 21 2001; Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, May 12-July 1 2001
